Sweeney Todd Music
What songs thrill and chill you the most? What good links do you have to good music for the horrifically wonderful horror play/film? What are your thoughts on the musical as a whole? Share here.
My mom and I went to see a production of the actual musical at the St. Louis FOX theatre several months ago. It was a lower budget production as evidenced by the lack of props and such, but that didn't matter. They made the most of what they had and it was wonderful. The singers were very good, and it was very artsy. They used this little wooden coffin to represent Sweeney Todd's barber chair, but, ironically, at the end he also cradeled it to represent the wife he killed, symbolizing how his lust for blood and revenge turned awry in the end. Don't get me wrong, I sympathize with Mr. Barker. I think the whole story is very sad and wish it didn't have to end like it did. Still, there's a message weaved in all the horror...
Before that, I discovered Sweeney Todd when SWIC, my most awesome community college, did a production of a fifteen minute musical on it. To check it out, here's links to both parts 1 and 2 on youtube. Enjoy!
