If you don't mind some adult humor, Chobits is a pretty sweet anime.
Avoid Inuyasha if you want a conclusion, otherwise it's a pretty fluffy soap opera between furry dog man, snarky lovestruch Kagome, and undead priestess Kikyo.
An awkward lovetriangle, yes?

And of course, FullMetal Alchemist

I love Inuyasha and FMA they're both pretty good. I tried watching chobits once but my laptop wasn't compatible with the player system so it didn't work
